Greek Muumuu and My Styx Tee

Hi Everyone!

Here is a little of what I have been working on lately. I have been powering through my piles of thrifted clothing that have been waiting to be reborn into something new, fun and cool!

This scarf below is cut from an old T-shirt. Jennifer at Peas and Crayons has the tutorial.
I had seen this in an issue of Glamour magazine and thought it looked cool. Then I saw it on Jennifer's Peas and Crayons blog. It was just fate, I guess. This is an old Styx t-shirt that I had found in the clearance section of Target a while back. It served me well as a fun T and now is is serving me again as a funky scarf.

I cut the purse piece from a pattern and sewed it all together.

I had so wanted to keep the purple dress as it was and wear it. But, it was a muumuu from Greece (didn't know they did that there...) and muumuus only make me look like I am in the last trimester of pregnancy. Not a good look for someone who had their last baby 12 years ago. I didn't hem the straps, rather ran a line right onto the fabric to allow the edge to fray and not go crazy. The purple dress is sewn on top of the denim. The band at the top was the neckline detail from the dress. I do believe that there will be a large denim and purple flower going on the side of this purse. I will post photos when that happens.

The greek mumu.

These are just for fun. This is the remnants of a fennel flower. The seeds are gone and just the skeleton remains.

Grass bush of some sort. I forget what it is. These grow wild at the marsh, I don't know if they are indigenous or if they are escaped from someone's landscaping.....
Happy Friday Eve! Our forecast here is calling for snow tomorrow night. SNOW!! I am beyond excited, we don't get snowstorms where I am in California (in the valley). Hopefully it sticks and doesn't melt away before I wake up in the morning. I am hoping to get some photos to prove it ;-)

Hi there!

The scarf and purse are cute and quite creative! And your wish for snow is funny. I completely understand but here in Ohio we are screaming for Spring! We've had enough snow and are ready to see it go away!

Thanks also for your comment on my blog, nice to see that someone else is making good use of fingernail polish lol. I missed your linky party but hopefully I'll catch the next one.

I also love the scarf and purse! Thanks for sharing the lik to the tutorial but I'm not sure that I'm crafty enough to pull it off!

Thank you so much for the tutorial on the scarf. I made one and love it! Super easy. I would really like to make something similar to the denim purse as well...where did you get your pattern? Is is something I can find and use also? That would be so great!
