Tropical Print Scarf

Hey Everyone!

I don't know if anyone has noticed but I am super into scarves lately! And, not those dime-store polyester kind either (yuck.). Truth be told, the polyester electrifies me and makes my hair stand up, or at the very least, stick to my face. Plus, they aren't big and chunky like I have been seeing on TV lately. Genevieve Gorder wears them a lot.

Anyway, I love them long and thick in gauzy or flow-y material, either solids or prints. Scarves just give a style injection to my normally very B.O.R.I.N.G. wardrobe. Since I am so picky I found that I like to make them myself. They begin as a dress or skirt purchased from the thrift store. Then they meet the scissors. Then they get hemmed. Easy as pie, right?

The dress. I picked this up from the Salvation Army last month for a coupla bucks.

All I did was to cut strips of fabric the long way, making sure to center the pattern.

I stitched two lengths together to make the desired length. I then hemmed the whole thing.

So easy and now I have a cute summer-y scarf.

Sweet! I did the same recently. Bought 3 pairs of the ugliest pants that you could ever imagine at the thrift store and turned em into scarves! Twins, you and I...twins.
