 Hey everyone!

I realized today that it is already Thursday and I haven't done a work from home update lately. I gotta get to that. But first:

My favorite project to date was featured by Stacy at Not Just a Housewife. Yay! I feel so validated.

Now.....I don't think that I've mentioned it before but I love to collect antique silverplate flatware. Especially  Oneida Community. I began collecting silverplate back in 2001 when I found a silverplate platter at the Goodwill. I purchased that platter for my sister and I researched it before I gave it to her (that one turned out to be a pattern called 1901). I was hooked and "rescued" silverplate from where ever I could find it, filling out my set with Ebay purchases.

My precious silverplate (and sterling) flatware.
From this angle you can see that multiples of patterns are stacked.

So, long story short, I pulled out all of my flatware today and cleaned and polished it. And I looked at the little-bitty hallmarks on the back and discovered that I have a bunch of sterling.

Ummmm, what?!? Who knew I had sterling in this pile??

Lol, and all this time I thought that it was just extra pretty silverplate. I researched it a bit and found the pattern (Martha Washington), the manufacturer (Watson) and the year made (1912). It was a little difficult to research it but it just made the moment that much sweeter when I found what I was looking for.

Aren't they gorgeous? Watson Sterling in Martha Washington. 1912. I have even more than what is pictured, the ones in this photo are monogrammed, the others are not.
These are listed on Etsy. My price is actually 25% less than what these pieces retail for individually (on Replacements.com).

I'd say it was a pretty good day.....now I am off to research these other pieces ;-)

It looks like your pics are fine without the lightbox! I'm very impressed by how well you got this silver to show up... honestly, my small stuff that I've had problems with has been silver and yours looks great!
